Steven Kirui was born in Kenya in 1984. He is well known for his cross country running ability and raw speed. His first race in the United States was last year at the Alpharetta ½ marathon which he hammered (and placed second) in 1:04. In June 2006, he out-kicked FS teammate, Belya Teka Kassa to win the Cotton Row Run 10K championships which was held in Huntsville, AL. Although he runs distance races, he excels in shorter races (10k and below).
